Tim McKay (BM, Oberlin Conservatory; MM, University of Maryland) currently serves on the faculty of Howard Community College in Columbia, MD, where he teaches percussion lessons through HCC's Music Institute program. He is the percussion coordinator of the Howard County High School GT Orchestra and is the director of the Drummin' Dragons summer percussion camp. In addition to performing with the Apollo Orchestra, Tim has performed with the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, and the Annapolis, Roanoke, West Virginia and Syracuse Symphonies. Tim performed as a soloist with the University of Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and was a "Rising Star" finalist at Howard County's Celebration of the Arts Gala. He performed with American Idol winner Phillip Phillips for PBS's "A Capitol Fourth" celebration. When he's not performing or teaching, Tim can be found baking artisan bread for his home-based business, Harvest Rise Bread Company. A rabid DC sports fan and baseball aficionado, you can find Tim and his family at Washington Nationals games throughout the season. His other interests include gardening, craft beer and playing with his kids. Tim lives in Columbia, MD, with his wife Amanda and their two children Isabelle and Zach.
