Principal Clarinet-Web Assistant

Clarinetist Shawn Buck received his B.M. from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, and his M.M. from the Manhattan School of Music.  His teachers include some true Titans of the clarinet world: Ignatius N. Gennusa (himself, a student of the legendary Daniel Bonade)--Principal Clarinet of the Chicago Symphony under Rafael Kubelik; Peter Simenauer--Associate Principal Clarinet/E-flat Clarinet of the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, and Kurt Mazur; and finally Kalmen Opperman--renowned NYC-based clarinet pedagogue. Mr. Buck presently holds the position of Principal Clarinet in The Apollo Orchestra.  Before this he served as the Solo E-flat Clarinet of the United States Air Force Concert Band, and also as a member of The United States Air Force Woodwind Quintet.  An active freelance musician in the DC Metro area, Shawn also performs with many of the area's regional orchestras, including The Maryland Symphony, Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra, Opera in Williamsburg, Opera Camerata of Washington, The Manassas Ballet Theater Orchestra, Maryland Lyric Opera, The American Pops Orchestra, Washington Choral Arts Society, and  the Cathedral Choral Society.
