Mia Laity is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied violin performance with Grigory Kalinovsky and Laurie Smukler. As a recipient of the coveted L. John Twiford Scholarship, she studied chamber music with renowned coach, Sylvia Rosenberg. Upon graduation she was chosen for the Helen Airoff Dowling Award, the prize for the outstanding violinist graduating from the BMA program. Ms. Laity is also an alumna of the New York String Orchestra Seminar, NPR's From the Top, Kneisel Hall, the Aspen Music Festival and School, and the Music Academy of the West. She is the newly announced Associate Principal Second Violin for the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and plays throughout the DC area as a chamber musician with Groupmuse and as the violinist of a piano trio.
