Originally from Alexandria, Virginia, violinist Mari Uehara Washington is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree. She continued her training at the University of Maryland, and was awarded a Master of Music degree. Several notable violin pedagogues are included in Mari’s list of teachers, including: Stephen Clapp, Greg Fulkerson, Arnold Steinhart and John Daly.
Leading a busy musical career in the DC Metro area, Mari Washington is also a member of The United States Air Force Strings. Having been appointed Concertmaster of that group in 2002, she has been a featured soloist at prestigious venues throughout the Metro area, such as DAR Constitution Hall and The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum. Additionally, as a member of the The United States Air Force String Quartet, Ms. Washington also performs many international concerts and recitals at the request of numerous foreign dignitaries and heads of state.
