Assistant Principal/Second Bassoon

Lynn Moncilovich is the Professor of Bassoon at the University of Delaware, an instructor at the annual Peabody Bassoon Week, an active educator and clinician, and maintains a private teaching studio. In addition to her position with the Apollo Orchestra, she is the contrabassoonist of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra and second bassoonist the Mid-Atlantic Symphony and Two Rivers Chamber Orchestra. As an active freelance musician in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C. area, she has performed with the National Philharmonic, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore and the pit orchestra at the Hippodrome Theatre. Originally from Johnstown, PA, Ms. Moncilovich received her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Dr. Jason Worzbyt. While in Pennsylvania, she served as the second bassoonist/contrabassoonist with the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Moncilovich then began studies at the University of North Texas, where she received her Master of Music in Bassoon and studied with Kathleen Reynolds. At UNT she held a teaching fellowship where she taught woodwind methods and coached chamber music. Ms. Moncilovich is a featured soloist on the UNT Wind Symphony’s recording of Gordon Jacob’s Concerto for Bassoon on the GIA Composer’s Collection—Gordon Jacob CD. Also while in Texas, she earned Artist’s Certificate from Southern Methodist University where she studied with Wilfred Roberts. At SMU she held a teaching assistantship in reedmaking and placed second in the Concerto Competition. While in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Ms. Moncilovich was an active freelance musician, performing with the Dallas Chamber Orchestra, Los Colinas Symphony Orchestra, Irving Symphony Orchestra, Sherman Symphony Orchestra and the Camerata Winds. She also holds a Graduate Performance Diploma at the Peabody Conservatory where she studied with Philip Kolker. Ms. Moncilovich has been the recipient of many awards and scholarships including the American Bassoon Company Award, Aegon USA Scholarship and the UNT Dean’s Camerata Scholarship.
