Cellist, Jihea Choi received her Bachelor of Music degree from the Catholic University of America, and her Master of Music degree from the University of Maryland in College Park. She also earned a Performer’s Certificate from Northern Illinois University. Her principle teachers include Robert Newkirk, David Teie, and Marc Johnson. In addition to her duties as Principal Cello of The Apollo Orchestra, Jihea is also a member of the cello section of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, and was recently appointed to the position of Assistant Principal in that ensemble. An active freelance musician in the DC/Baltimore region, Ms. Choi regularly performs with National Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Maryland, Alexandria, and Mid Atlantic Symphony Orchestras. Jihea maintains private teaching studios at both the Landon School and the Potomac School.
