Principal Flutist Ardyth Scott, is a graduate of North Texas State University. She received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Flute Performance there, studying with Dr. Mary Karen Clardy. While at North Texas, Ardyth studied with the late Marcel Moyse at his Summer Woodwind Workshops in Brattleboro, Vermont. After graduation, Ardyth joined the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., where she was Solo Piccoloist with the USAF Band and Symphony Orchestra. Now an active free-lancer in the D.C. area, Ardyth is Piccoloist with the American Festival Pops Orchestra, and has performed with both the Fairfax and Arlington Symphony Orchestras. Ardyth loves to combine music and travel, and has played Principal Flute in the Ramallah Orchestra in Ramallah, Palestine and the Antakya Peace Orchestra in Antakya, Turkey. On her latest trip to Palestine, Ardyth taught flute in Palestinian refugee camps with the Al Kamandjati Music Association, a group that provides free instruments and music lessons for children growing up in refugee camps.
